Family Photography Sessions during midday are some of my favorite. Preferring to go right after the Marine Layer clears and floats inland; giving you beautiful overhead lighting that can actually be much softer than a Sunset Session. It can also be just as colorful within a different color of the spectrum. Beautiful blues and light oranges…and a color of water for a backdrop, that has you looking like you are somewhere in the Caribbean.

Another positive element for having your Family Photography Session during the day, is that there should be less of a crowd than at Sunset! Especially, if you can opt-in mid-week to schedule your session. Non-school holidays and development days book quickly and the beaches are less crowded than the weekends. Some families have even scheduled a day away from classes to have their Session, followed by some educational fun at the San Diego Zoo or the Fleet Science Museum in Balboa Park. Even the Botanical Gardens are a great place to educate while still having fun!

A Family Photography Session will begin with hair and makeup, either in the comfort of your own home, or in the East Village Studio. Afterwards, we regroup at the beach for an hour or so. The time spent actually shooting your Coronado or California Family Photography Session will depend on your family dynamics, however, we keep it fun for the children so that their attention span will make it long enough to get the best formal and candid photos for your beautiful family. Children with special needs are very special indeed and we may cater the day around them to keep them happy while getting the images we need!
