Courthouse Wedding Elopement
4 Hour Courthouse Wedding Package (Part 1)
An all too familiar site for me in Downtown San Diego as a Courthouse Wedding Elopement has become the San Diego County Assessor’s Building. This is where Marriage Licenses are issued and many new families tie-the-knot and get married! While only a generation ago, courthouse marriages were so untraditional that many assumed it was a sure sign of a baby on the way…many Millennials are now opting for quick and intimate weddings; Making non-traditional weddings the new traditional wedding!
Studies show that Young Adults are putting off marriage until later in life for many reasons. Many want to wait until after they start their career to get married, and others are buried in student loan debt (I actually wrote a long paper in College a couple semesters ago on this). Anyhow, there are more and more couples that are opting for a quick and painless “i do”. And I couldn’t be more excited!
Recently, I had the pleasure of attending, witnessing, and photographing this wonderful couple on their Courthouse Wedding Elopement Wedding Day. They were not from San Diego but decided this was the place to elope! It was as special a day as we could make it and as a result, they have beautiful images to fill their first home together with!
We began by signing off, on the Marriage License inside the San Diego County Building. which is pretty amazing by itself, as it was built in 1938. It is somewhat of a typical building for that time period here in the military areas of San Diego but definitely a unique and beautiful spot for your Wedding Backdrop!
There is plenty of greenery and a fountain to take some great outdoor portraits next to the outdoor marriage location. Beyond that, there is an amazing elevator straight out of the Art Deco era and there is a huge fountain to get your feet a little wet in.
Within walking distance, you have Santa Fe depot, which makes for some great Spanish style backdrops and the boats And ships sitting on the harbor are just across the street. Even if you don’t feel like walking across the street, you can get some pretty great views of the harbor.
here are some of my favorite photos from their big Courthouse Wedding Elopement day!
this couple decided they wanted to change up their outfit after their ceremony and head to the beach for some great shots as a first time married couple! We were able to get some great views from the cliffs and eventually made our way down to the water as the sun set over the pacific! I’ll post about that next but for now, I hope you enjoyed seeing this beautiful couple celebrate their Courthouse Wedding Elopement wedding day!
With Love and Good Vibes,
