Courthouse Wedding

[Updated]

A Courthouse Wedding in Southern California rivals one of the best locations in the country for a quick and beautiful civil marriage. Outdoor Wedding Photography here is nothing less than phenomenal with the San Diego County Administration Building sitting on the Harbor.

Many couples come to SD for a quick and easy courthouse wedding and many tend to be locals who are in the military. No matter what your reason is for a Courthouse Wedding, having boring images is not something you have to worry about with this SD Courthouse Wedding Photographer!

As it’s your special day, you have a few options. The minimalist option is for one hour coverage that includes your ceremony and a few images after your ceremony. Your next option would be for two hours. This covers your ceremony, images afterwards on the grounds, and a secondary nearby location that we can walk to. As far as those nearby locations go, there are some incredibly beautiful options. One of the most popular is of course, the harbor!

There are also two locations within a short drive that I highly recommend! One includes a beautiful, long, flat beach, and the other boasts some truly incredible cliffs and backgrounds. It is absolutely perfect for sunset. I would suggest getting as close as you can between your ceremony and sunset!

The SD Harbor which is located literally across the street, has some beautiful and calm waters for a backdrop. A tiny park next to seaport village has wonderful views and greenery, along with short walk to an antique carousel.

If none of that sounds like you, the Famous Balboa Park is about a 12 minute uber drive away. There is wonderful Spanish-style architecture, greenery and flowers almost everywhere, magical Fig Trees, a reflecting pond, a rose garden, a cactus garden, an antique carousel (my favorite), and all of these places are achievable on foot in an hour or less!

Take a look at a few images from a recent Courthouse Wedding that included a quick sharing of their vows and a trip to Balboa Park afterwards. This wedding was captured around noon and it was an exceptionally hot and bright day out. Even when the couple was facing away from the sun, they were still having a tough time not squinting. As for me, I could barely see facing the sun (lol) but I made it work without a hitch!

So keep in mind, that sunset is my most requested time for sessions and for a good reason! when making your Courthouse Wedding reservations, 4:30pm is the latest, and in the spring-early fall I would definitely suggest aiming for 4pm or 4:30pm for the most beautiful lighting. However, if it’s not possible, don’t worry. You will still have beautiful images for your home and for a lifetime of memories!
