Outdoor Portrait Session

4 Hour Courthouse Wedding Photography Package (Part 2)

Downtown San Diego Courthouse Weddings at the San Diego County Assessor’s Building has become a favorite of mine to photograph as a wedding photographer. It’s Where “I do’s” are quick and exciting, and in only a short amount of time we have fun documenting a huge milestone in your life and capture your love for one another.

Obtaining a Marriage License is an easy process and ceremonies can now be scheduled online! One of my favorite things about Downtown San Diego is that there are so many different backdrops within just a few city blocks.

Continuing from my last blog post, I wanted to share what this young couple decided to do after their courthouse wedding ceremony…

Following a beautiful afternoon, tying the knot, and a quick wardrobe change. Everyone made their way to the beach for a newlywed Portrait Session that I’m sure will never be forgotten!

Not far from downtown, the courthouse wedding continued on until sunset. We began on top of some beautiful cliffs overlooking San Diego and the Pacific Ocean. While seagulls flew overhead, this couple let everything else in life fade away while they just focused on each other and being in the moment.

Their love could not be more evident in their body language and the way they looked at each other. When you know, you know, as they say :) while the sun was still high, we captured a few heart-melting moments on camera and made our way to a second location.

After playing on the beach for a bit, they had a few moments together on the cliffs with a perfect view of the sunset. From golden hour to blue hour to the last sliver of light, they managed to get a little wet from a rogue wave or two and we captured every moment of their first moments together for the rest of their lives.

Check out a few of my faves from the second half of their courthouse wedding day!

4 Hour Courthouse Wedding Package (Part 1)

An all too familiar site for me in Downtown San Diego has become the San Diego County Assessor’s Building. This is where Marriage Licenses are issued and many new families tie-the-knot and get married! While only a generation ago, courthouse marriages were so untraditional that many assumed it was a sure sign of a baby on the way…many Millennials are now opting for quick and intimate weddings; Making non-traditional weddings the new traditional wedding!

Studies show that Young Adults are putting off marriage until later in life for many reasons. Many want to wait until after they start their career to get married, and others are buried in student loan debt (I actually wrote a long paper in College a couple semesters ago on this). Anyhow, there are more and more couples that are opting for a quick and painless “i do”. And I couldn’t be more excited!

Recently, I had the pleasure of attending, witnessing, and photographing this wonderful couple on their Wedding Day. They were not from San Diego but decided this was the place to elope! It was as special a day as we could make it and as a result, they have beautiful images to fill their first home together with!

We began by signing off, on the Marriage License inside the San Diego County Building. which is pretty amazing by itself, as it was built in 1938. It is somewhat of a typical building for that time period here in the military areas of San Diego but definitely a unique and beautiful spot for your Wedding Backdrop!

There is plenty of greenery and a fountain to take some great outdoor portraits next to the outdoor marriage location. Beyond that, there is an amazing elevator straight out of the Art Deco era and there is a huge fountain to get your feet a little wet in.

Within walking distance, you have Santa Fe depot, which makes for some great Spanish style backdrops and the boats And ships sitting on the harbor are just across the street. Even if you don’t feel like walking across the street, you can get some pretty great views of the harbor.

here are some of my favorite photos from their San Diego courthouse wedding!

this couple decided they wanted to change up their outfit after their ceremony and head to the beach for some great shots as a first time married couple! We were able to get some great views from the cliffs and eventually made our way down to the water as the sun set over the pacific! I’ll post about that next but for now, I hope you enjoyed seeing this beautiful couple celebrate their wedding day!

This Small Courthouse Wedding turned into an Intimate Wedding with a few friends and family there to witness the joining of these love birds in holy matrimony! It’s definitely the way to go to celebrate an easy and fun Courthouse Wedding Day in Downtown San Diego!

“All you need is love” is so true! I’m constantly reminded, how important Love truly is, with each and every couple that I have the pleasure to meet. Somehow I have managed to meet the most beautiful and loving couples that are truly the best people. You know, those people you are referring to whenever you say, there are still good people out there? Not only did this couple show me what true love is but so did their amazing group of close family and friends!

These soon-to-be newlyweds met me over coffee and that’s when their story unfolded for the first time. Having been through so much in their lives, they found each other and knew pretty quickly that it was the real deal!

There are so many different ways to celebrate non-traditional marriages these days. How do you know which is right for you? The main thing that I believe it comes down to, is asking yourself, what is the most important thing to you on your Wedding Day? I’ll go more into that here..

Just because you may be having a quick wedding, doesn’t mean that you have to go solo at it (or should i say as a duet). And it definitely doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t have some beautiful wedding photography to remember your day by. It’s just as special as big wedding with 300 on the guest list! In fact, I believe it’s even the more special because it’s a day that’s literally just about the two of you!

An outdoor wedding for your San Diego Civil Marriage Ceremony at the San Diego County Administration Center with a Harbor front view is a beautiful location that is perfect for your family and friends to join in on.

You have two options: indoor or outdoor wedding. If I can stress one thing, do the outdoor ceremony. I don’t care if there is rain, June Gloom, snow, wind, or white walkers are on their way. The indoor location Doesn’t compare to the outdoor one, there is no question that crazy weather would be worth it. Your friends and family can stand together and watch the two of you officially start your lives together, the photographer is able to get some beautiful photos, and then you have time to have your first portraits together as a married couple in a beautiful and historical location!

One bit of advice: Don’t forget your marriage license!
